Editorial: Race for the Future
Abstract
The battle to repeal the 8th Amendmentto the Constitution, which equates the life ofa foetus with the life of a woman and thusprevents any progress towards a woman’sright to choose, is a key issue in Irish politicallife at the moment. But for all its importance - and winningit is clearly vital - it remains an episodein two interconnected wider struggles: thestruggle for women’s equality and liberation and the struggle to free Irish society from itsdomination by the deeply conservative androtten hierarchy of the Catholic Church.
