The Contradictions of Home Life in Capitalism
Abstract
Marnie Holborow describes how homes are left to provide everything that capitalist society won’t – care, day to day survival, all kinds of support – and, as a result, home life as we know it, is full of tensions and contradictions. This article is an adaptation from a chapter of Marnie’s new book Homes in Crisis Capitalism: Gender work and revolution, which is also reviewed in this issue
